Tips on Buying a Gaming Mouse

Gaming fever seems to be on an all-time high, with game developers each day pushing the boundaries of hyper-reality with games that seem so real that they engross you for hours on end. Even with the advent of powerful game consoles like the Xbox One and PlayStation 4, the popularity of PC gaming is on the rise. This is mainly because of the easy availability and feasibility of PCs. Also, the best of games are usually simultaneously released for the PC platform along with the other gaming platforms. To make the most of this, your PC gaming experience, you need the proper hardware, and none is more important than the mouse.

There are plenty of gaming mice available in the market today, which offer different features. You might, however, want to keep in mind that, unlike most other hardware, you cannot have a one-mouse-serves-all approach. So, while a certain kind of mouse would be great for burning some rubber as you maneuver your car around the treacherous turns, the same mouse might turn out to be a complete disaster when you try sniping someone. Here are a few parameters that you might want to consider before you pick a mouse that best suits your gaming needs.

DPI
Dots Per Inch or DPI is the number of pixels the cursor on the screen moves when you move the mouse by an inch. Simply put, the higher the DPI, the more your cursor moves with minimal mouse movement, and vice versa. A mouse with high DPI (>1600) would be ideal for shoot ’em up games where you’re constantly on the move. These are also useful if you have a large screen or monitor, as you would not need to strain as much navigating from one end of the screen to the other. A lower DPI (<1600) is perfect for games that involve stealth and better control of the mouse. Some high-end gaming mice give you the option to change their DPI setting.

Acceleration
Acceleration is the speed at which the cursor moves in proportion to the speed at which the mouse is moved. The lower the acceleration the more control you have over the cursor. Most mice do not let you change the acceleration and have a standard acceleration. This is a parameter that cannot really be verified by the end user and as most gaming mice have a good acceleration value, this isn’t really a decisive factor while buying a mouse.

Polling Rate
Polling rate is essentially the response time of the cursor with respect to any action of the mouse. The higher the polling rate, the more often your mouse registers an action. For hardcore gamers, a polling rate in the range of 400 – 1,000 Hz should be just about perfect. For wireless mice, a higher polling rate would mean higher battery consumption.

Wired/Wireless
For those who like no hindrance while playing games, even with mouse wires, there’s nothing quite like a wireless mouse. These, however, run out of battery pretty soon, which is never a problem with wired mice. If you prefer a wireless mouse, opt for one with a large in-built rechargeable battery rather than one that uses removable batteries. The weight and range are other factors that you might also want to consider while buying a wireless gaming mouse.

Additional Buttons
Most gaming mice come with additional buttons apart from the standard three buttons (left, right and scroll). These buttons can be customized to handle specific functions in a game, and are very useful. Usually, a button on each side of the mouse should suffice for most gaming needs. Some mice feature profile storage options which allow you to save multiple settings on the mouse to use for different gaming needs. This is a feature that is rather handy if you play games across various genres.

Comfort
Comfort is probably, one of the most important factors to consider when buying a gaming mouse. Most games keep you occupied for hours together with almost all their in-game actions controlled by the mouse. Get a hands-on feel of the mouse if you can before buying it, as you would be using it for really long periods. This is all the more important if you are looking for a wireless gaming mouse as more often than not, you would not be using it on a level surface. As a rule of thumb, always choose ergonomics over style. Also, while selecting a mouse that best suits you, you may want to consider one that best matches your dominant hand (left or right) and the way you grip the mouse (palm, fingertip, or claw grip).

With the perfect gaming mouse by your side, you should be able to get that perfect drift, the perfect headshot, and move around with the stealth of a cat in your virtual world. Cheers.

How to Find Fun Games for Adults

All work and no play, makes your life boring and mundane. Games are not just meant for kids. Games at a weekend party provide a refreshing change and a rejuvenating experience. Games for adults come in all shapes and sizes and importantly there’s never a question of winning or losing. These games will revive the missing element of fun and excitement in your life. So loosen up your ties, roll up your sleeves and get ready for an evening of rollicking laughter.

Say the Name
Let me warn you, this will get you drunk, so designate a responsible driver. Make your drinks and begin the game with the name of a famous person. Suppose the name is ‘Bill Gates’, then the next person will say the next name starting with ‘G’. Suppose the next person says, ‘Gerard Butler’, the one after him/her will say the name beginning with ‘B’. The game basically, continues with first letter of the last name. The fun part of the game is where a participant cannot think of a name. What happens then? Then, the participant is supposed to keep on drinking till he/she thinks of name. After so much of alcohol, thinking is barely possible and that’s when the fun starts!

Watch my Back
It’s raining outside, the TV’s got slurred reception, you can’t step out and evening’s getting boring more than what you had imagined. This is game strictly meant for couples. Your partner will try to write a really intimate and a sexual message on your back, while you try to figure it out. If you get it right, you can ask for a favor (unleash your imagination!), that your partner can’t deny. But if you get it wrong, your partner can ask for whatever was written on the back, for hours and hours!!

Games on Platter
The first game is called the ‘Bubble Blow’ race. Set out paper plates in front of a circle of participants. Place a gum on each plate and then bury those pieces with dollops and dollops of whipped cream. Each participant, has to dig out the chewing gum and blow a bubble. The fun part is, they can use their hands all the while! Another game that you can play is, ‘Penny Wise’. For this game distribute 20 pennies to each participant and make them sit in a circle. The first person, begins with saying something that he/she hasn’t done. For example, ‘I haven’t done rock climbing’. If the others agree, they will give a penny to that person. Everybody gets a turn to say what they haven’t done. At the end of the game, the winner is the one who rakes in the moolah!

Board Games
There is no dearth of board games in this world! Fun board games like pictionary, the pictorial dumb charade, survivor, needless to mention it’s like the hit TV-show, Catch Phrase, which keeps you on your tenterhooks and lastly the classic, pirates of the Caribbean DVD game are enough to keep you occupied all night long. These games can be bought online or in any retail game shop.
Fun party games that involve consuming alcohol, should be played with extra care. Playing games allows your mind to think differently. Out of the box thinking is at its peak when it’s time to play. Game on!

Finding Group Games for Adults

Group games are the best way to get a fairly large number of people to interact. It is customary to start with an icebreaker activity, which helps people to overcome their initial awkwardness and join the fun. It is also an effective way to mix up the group, so that people who know each other no longer clump together but are forced to get to know others. If the group of people belong to an organization, it would be a good idea to include games that teach qualities of teamwork or leadership. Here are a few fun games for adults to play in groups.

Two Truths and a Lie

The basic objective of this game is introducing each person to others. If you have a very large group of people, you can split them into smaller groups and have them play the game within each group. Make each group sit in a circle, and provide a piece of paper and pen to each person. Tell them to write down two true statements about themselves and one lie. One by one each person has to read out what they have written and the group has to guess which statements are true and which one is the lie. The person will reveal the answer after reading out all three statements and once the others have finished making their guesses.

Crossing the Dead Sea
If you are looking for indoor group games for adults, this one is a great option. This is a group game that I recently played and enjoyed to the hilt. Once again, if you have a very large group of people, split them into smaller groups. If the group is not very large, form them into two teams that will compete against each other. Draw two parallel lines with about a 15 feet in between them. Taking the largest steps you make, walk in a straight line and count how many steps it takes to get from one parallel line to another. You need these many rectangular wooden bricks of the measure 8″x4″ for each group. Provide each group the decided number of wooden bricks, and ask them to use the bricks to get across the ‘Dead Sea’. Nobody’s feet must touch the ground between the lines, and all members must cross from one side to another. If a person loses balance and touches the ground, the entire team must start again. A key to increasing the difficulty level of the game is to provide bricks that are rounded at the edges, and thus not very steady.

Story Time with Props
This game requires more creativity than activity, and is ideal when your crowd is tired. You need a group of at least 20 people for it to be a success. It also requires a bit of planning, as you need a varied collection of ‘props’ like a pillow, toy dog, plate, cardboard box, belt, wooden spoon, flowers, picture, scarf, etc. You need approximately 5 props per group. Divide the large group into smaller teams of 7 to 8 people each, and then give them a bag containing the props. Ask each group to come up with a story they will act out and use the props in any way apart from its conventional use. Give them about 10 to 15 minutes to prepare. The team which uses the props in the most creative manner, or the team that comes up with the most hilarious story, wins.

Human Knot
This is one of my favorite group games. It requires a fair deal of activity. If you have a very large group of people, split them into smaller groups. Each group should comprise at least 10 people or more. First get each group to form a circle and then tell them to walk towards the center of the circle. You should have bunches of people standing close together (shoulder to shoulder) with no space in between. Then ask everyone to close their eyes, reach out (this is important) and clasp hands with people in the group. Tell them they get points for not holding hands with the people who are immediately around them. Now walk around and inspect each group. Ensure that each person should be holding hands with two different people, and there is sufficient intermingling. Once you’re satisfied, ask everyone to open their eyes and start untangling the knot without letting go of each others hands. They should eventually untangle into a perfect circle, or maybe even two breakaway circles.

Follow The Lead

This game happens to be the shortest and the most hilarious of all. Like rest of the games, you need to split your guests in smaller groups of 6 to 10 people each. As a host, you might need to make some advance preparation by creating 8 to 10 pieces of paper. Jot down situations like bus travel, classroom, office, etc., on every piece of paper. Fold these papers and place them in a bowl or a bag. Now ask a person from one of the groups to come and select a folded paper. He needs to read and start acting as per the situation mentioned. The rest of the group needs to understand his actions and start playing other characters in the situation as per what they grasped. The total duration of reading the piece of paper and starting to act is just one minute. For example, the situation given in the paper is bus travel. Here the leader might do actions as if he were driving the bus. The rest of the team may follow lead and play out characters like the passengers, the bus stop, the chairs, the ticket machine, etc. Team members lose points if they misunderstand the situation, speak out loudly or if two members of the team play a similar character. For example, when two members play the character of a ticket machine. The same continues for other teams too. The team with the highest number of points wins.

While deciding on the best group games for adults, you need to consider the available space, the number of players and the availability of game supplies. Your group is sure to have plenty of fun playing these games. I wish you all a good time!

Finding Free Computer Games

Are you unbelievably bored? Are you tired of spending time on social networking sites like Facebook? Then it is time you checked out some of the best free games offered by websites on the Internet. Once you start playing these online games, your boredom will surely seem miles away.

The age of television entertainment and arcade games is passe. It is the time of the Internet and action has shifted to virtual space now. Whatever you need, Internet will deliver. One of the greatest past times that netizens indulge in is playing free games online. There are many sources in the form of websites that offer you some great gaming action absolutely free. Most of these games are flash based and are hosted by many sites for free. Even advanced games of amazing graphic quality are offered by some websites for free download.

It would be a sin not to take advantage of these games when they are offered online for free. The best part is that some games are even multiplayer type, where you get a chance to interact and play with other people.

Free Games Offered Online

The Internet has had a huge impact on the gaming world. Most top games will have a multiplayer mode for online game play. The free computer games presented by websites range from classic arcade games to flash games based on various themes and even games with high-definition graphics.

Most of the classic arcade games like Mario Brothers are offered as freeware download by many websites. Some offer an online interface where you need to register for online game play. One such service is Yahoo games. Other than this there are plenty of free games provided by websites which include board games, games like Pool and even Darts. Most of these also let you download games to your PC and play them for free. There are too many such websites for me to list here. Google can find them for you. Zynga, Zapak and Yahoo Games are three web portals, where you can play a range of games for free. Zynga has several games which can be played on Facebook, with your friends.

However, if you are looking for some of the best computer games of all time, then you have no option, but to buy these games from your nearest stores. However, most of the top game designers offer free trials of games for you to try out. So you could download some free trials or demo version of some of these best computer games and try them out. If you want the real deal, then it’s best that you buy them. Be careful while downloading games from websites, as they may contain viruses and trojans, which are disguised as real games. Only download computer games from trusted websites.

My personal favorite gaming service is Yahoo games, where I have spent hours in the Chess game room. There are some pretty good players on Yahoo chess who are regulars. Joining these game rooms can give you an opportunity to match with some of the best chess brains in the world. You can explore on Google for more web sites that offer classic arcade and video game for free download. Just make sure that you don’t spend too much time playing computer games to the point where it becomes addictive. There is fun in moderate enjoyment of such things!
